Congratulations on your Engagement

Here’s What to Think About Next!

Christmas is a magical time of year, and it’s no surprise that 40% of all wedding proposals happen during the festive season. If you’ve just said “yes,” congratulations on your engagement! This is the start of an exciting journey, but it’s easy to feel overwhelmed when the planning begins. The venue might be a stunning hotel, a charming church, or even a marquee in a family garden, but what comes next? There’s so much to think about and book!

Let’s take a moment to focus on what really matters. As an experienced Warwickshire Wedding Photographer, John Fox Wedding Photography is here to give a few hints and tips to help you on the journey of planning your wedding.

What Services Do You Really Need?

The most important services to book after your church or venue are those that can only serve one wedding a day. While florists, décor companies, and cake suppliers can manage multiple events on the same day, there are a few suppliers who will be exclusively dedicated to you. These include:

  • Your Hair and Makeup Artist
Your glam team will only be working with you and your bridal party, so it’s essential to secure their availability early.
  • Your Band or Musicians
If live music is part of your vision, remember that a band or solo musician can only perform at one wedding per day.
  • Your Photographer
This is the most critical booking for your wedding memories. While the flowers, food, and décor are enjoyed on the day, your photographs are what will stay with you forever. Capturing every moment of your celebration is about more than just snapping pictures—it’s about telling the story of your love.

Don’t Delay: Popular Dates Book Quickly

Planning ahead is crucial, especially when it comes to securing key suppliers like your photographer. Popular wedding dates aren’t just limited to summer Saturdays anymore—they can be any day of the week or year! Only this past week, the 1st August 2026 was booked and just two days later, another enquiry for the same date arrived. Unfortunately, it was too late—the date was already taken.

If you’ve found the suppliers you love, don’t wait! Book them as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. It’s heartbreaking when couples miss out on their preferred professionals simply because someone else acted sooner.
