John Fox Wedding Photography Receives Highly Commended Award from The British Photographers Alliance. I’m incredibly proud to share that John Fox Wedding Photography has been awarded a Highly Commended certificate for one of my images, capturing a bride’s quiet preparation before her wedding day. This award comes from The British Photographers Alliance in partnership with Studiomasters and is particularly meaningful, as the image was reviewed and selected by none other than Kevin Wilson, one of the UK’s most decorated photographers and an esteemed head judge.
This image holds a poignant significance. The bride, who is a professional barber, shared her story with me, and together we created an image that would reflect both her personal and professional journey. The composition shows her having her hair done, with her wedding dress delicately hanging in the window—a symbol of her transition from the everyday to this monumental moment in her life. Knowing her background inspired me to compose a photograph that spoke to her unique experience and love for her craft.
This award-winning image was taken during a wedding at Milling Barn in Herefordshire, a beautiful venue known for its rustic charm and elegance. Milling Barn is part of The Venue Group that are a Wedding Venue Management Specialists for four unique venues across three counties—one in Herefordshire, one in Warwickshire and two in Northamptonshire—all of which I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. Working at these venues has given me a chance to explore each location’s unique character and create memorable images that speak to the beauty and individuality of each setting. Coincidently the owner of this was at another wedding I photographed at Shuckburgh Hall.
Receiving recognition from the British Photographers Alliance, with an award led by such a respected figure in the industry, is a true honour. Kevin Wilson’s acknowledgment of this image is not only a personal milestone but a testament to the power of connecting with each couple’s story. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to create something so meaningful for this bride and to have that work celebrated by one of the best in the UK.
