Sun Beds, Cleckheaton

Being the only sunbed shop along the main street in Cleckheaton, we make sure that our beds are the best kept ones you will come across, our newly tubed beds keep inline with new rules aaccording to EU Legislation.

Here, I’m going to try and answer questions that I’ve come across over the years at Maddalena’s, the most common one being

How long can I go on a sunbed for?

A new regulation now requires all sunbeds to have a maximum irradiance level of 0.3W/m2 and this will mean the length of a session will need to be increased to achieve the same tan you have currently been acheieving.

Whilst doing my research on sunbeds I came across a written news feed which stated that on contrary to what people say about how bad sunbeds are they really are not all that bad.

Most of the population of England will suffer at some point with a lack of vitamin D, we simply don’t get enough sunlight to make the vitamin that our body needs in order to stay healthy and its almost impossible to get the vitamin through diet alone.  At no point am I telling you all to run out and buy a course for our sunbeds, but I am saying that should you wish too, then know that it won’t harm your vitamin level.  During the winter months quite a lot of people also suffer with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) sunbeds have been known to treat this as well as eczema and psoriasis.

What is my skin type?

For a better understanding you will see from the chart (just click to enlarge) above various skin types this will enable you to decide for yourself.  Not everybody has the same skin nor the same protection, and how quickly we tan depends on our skin type.  We always advise that you have a break from tanning if you buy a session of minutes.

We would strongly advise anyone that uses our sunbeds to use the appropriate goggles provided.

We do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to use our sunbeds!  We also advise that if you are on any medication that you seek the approval of a doctor first!

At Maddalena’s you get the choice of a lie-down or standing sunbeds whereas at most sunbed shops you tend to find only standing beds.  We like to give our customers a choice.

No appointment necessary to use our sunbeds we welcome all walk-in visits.

Guidelines for the best tan experience

  • If you are a beginner to sunbeds do not over expose yourself, after your first session wait at least 24-48 hours before you re visit the sunbed.
  • Ensure you moisturise your skin before and after a session this helps to prevent skin from drying out, not to mention keeps your skin soft.
  • Remember that our lips can tan too, its always a good idea to protect lips not only from a sunbed but from the natural sun too.
  • Should you over do the sunbed and burn yourself, wait till all the redness had faded till you visit again!
  • To enhance your tan there are creams available at Maddalena’s to help.
  • Further more do not think that over exceeding yourself on the sunbed will tan you quicker, you will only burn, we believe in safe tanning at Maddalena’s and will not allow any misuse on our sunbeds!
