As well as more traditional massage treatments, we also provide hot stones massages at Maddalena’s, Cleckheaton.  This is an ancient technique that has been used around the world for thousands of years, using hot stones to loosen tight muscles before they’re kneaded.  Hot stones massages are great for treating every day stresses and anxieties, as well as chronic pain conditions and muscle tension.

The stones will be heated to a hot, but still comfortable, temperature and placed on the back in specific places.  The warmth of the stones will relax the body and the muscles, allowing the massage therapist to penetrate them more deeply with their kneading and strokes.

Generally, you will start lying on your front with the hot stones on your back, but they may also be placed on your stomach, hands, or legs.  Temperature and pressure are very personal preferences, so please do speak up and tell your therapist if the stones are too hot, too cool or you feel any discomfort at all.  It’s our job to make sure your treatment is helpful and great for your body, so we’ll do anything we can to accommodate you.

There’s no real aftercare that needs to be taken into account after a massage, just to notice your body and muscles and how they feel.  Regular massages can ensure that your body is kept lucid and will reduce muscle pain and posture problems.  Your treatment will be conducted in a relaxing, warm room with candles and aromatherapy oils.  If you have any allergies, please let us know prior to the treatment so we can ensure we don’t use any oils that would cause a reaction.
