Midlands Enterprise Awards Announcement
The Midlands Enterprise Awards have named John Fox Wedding Photography Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year 2026.
After more than 27 years of photographing weddings it is fantastic to have the creative side of my work recognised. Photography has changed a great deal during that time. My approach has stayed the same. I want to create photographs that feel personal whilst looking for fresh ways to capture each wedding.
Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year 2026
This award means a great deal. Creativity has always been central to my photography.
Every wedding gives me new opportunities. I look for interesting light, unusual compositions and genuine moments. I also look for ways to create images that feel different without taking the focus away from the couple.
Creativity Comes From Light
For me creativity starts with what is actually there. Light plays a huge part in my work. Available light can create atmosphere, shape and depth. When needed, I also use off camera flash to control the light or add something different to an image.
Rather than build a false environment afterwards, I prefer to find a creative solution within the real setting. AI is now being used to create completely different environments in wedding photography. For me, there is something special about keeping the image connected to the actual wedding day.
Creating an image in the moment gives it meaning. The location, the light and the people are real. The photograph records something that genuinely happened.
Pushing The Boundaries With Wedding Photography
Photography competitions can make it difficult to push the boundaries.
There can be a natural preference for what feels familiar. New ideas can take time to gain acceptance because they challenge established expectations.
That is one reason I enjoy creating something different. The general public can often be more open to a fresh approach. They are not looking at an image through the same judging criteria. They simply see something that catches their eye and makes them stop.
For me that is an important part of creativity. I want to create photographs that stand out. I do not want to produce another technically perfect image that looks like everything else.
Pushing those boundaries does not always result in an award. When it does the recognition feels even more meaningful.
More Than 27 Years Of Wedding Photography
I have been photographing weddings for more than 27 years. During that time I have photographed celebrations across the Midlands, throughout the UK and overseas.
That experience has taught me that no two weddings are ever the same. The technical side of photography continues to develop. The most important part remains seeing the moment.
Knowing where to be matters. Recognising when something is about to happen matters too. So does having the confidence to try a different approach.
This latest award is a wonderful recognition of that way of working.
Recognition For John Fox Wedding Photography
The Midlands Enterprise Awards 2026 award joins other recent recognition for my work. This includes awards from Wedisson and Studio Masters.
I am proud to have my work recognised by professional organisations and competitions. However, the couples themselves remain the most important part of my work. Creating photographs that couples love is what makes being a wedding photographer so rewarding.
Being named Creative Wedding Photographer of the Year 2026 is another fantastic chapter for John Fox Wedding Photography. I look forward to continuing to push my photography forward whilst creating something different at every wedding.
