At The Old Rail Farm
Ella and Chris’s Pre-Wedding Shoot took place at Old Rail Farm in Warwickshire. We photographed them before their spring wedding. They wanted to enjoy the gardens while they were still green. The timing also gave us a relaxed opportunity to create photographs before their wedding day.
A Pre-Wedding Shoot at Old Rail Farm
Ella and Chris chose to have their shoot before spring. The gardens were still green, so the setting had a fresh, natural feel. They wanted to capture that look before the seasons changed.
The timing worked particularly well because we could take our time. There was no wedding schedule to follow. Instead, we could walk around the gardens, talk and look for different opportunities.
That makes a pre-wedding shoot useful in more ways than one. It gives us time to create photographs together. It also helps couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera.
Getting Comfortable Before Their Wedding
Most couples are not used to having a camera pointed at them. A pre-wedding shoot gives them time to get used to it without the pressure of a wedding day.
For Ella and Chris, the shoot was a chance to relax and enjoy some time together. We could try different ideas without needing to rush. As a result, the photographs could develop naturally.
I also get to see how a couple interact. Some people prefer very natural photographs. Others are happy with a little more direction. By spending time together beforehand, I can understand what works best for each couple.
Using the Gardens and Available Light
The gardens at Old Rail Farm gave us plenty of opportunities for different photographs. The greenery provided a natural background, while the available light helped shape the images.
I always look at what is actually around me before deciding how to photograph a couple. Light plays a big part in that process. Rather than creating a false environment afterwards, I prefer to use the real surroundings.
However, I will use off camera flash when it improves an image. The aim is still to keep the photograph connected to the location. Good lighting should support the photograph rather than distract from it.
Looking Ahead to Their Spring Wedding
Ella and Chris will return to Old Rail Farm for their wedding in spring. Their pre-wedding photographs will therefore have a very different feel from the images we create on the wedding day.
The gardens will change as the year moves on. That difference will help give their two sets of photographs their own character.
Most importantly, we have already spent time together before the wedding. When the big day arrives, the camera will feel more familiar. We will also know how to work together.
Pre-Wedding Shoots in Warwickshire
I include a relaxed pre-wedding shoot within my wedding photography packages. It gives couples time to get comfortable in front of the camera. It also gives us an opportunity to create photographs that are separate from the wedding day.
For couples getting married in Warwickshire, the shoot can take place at their venue. Alternatively, we can choose another location that means something to them. The right location can add another part to the story of the wedding.
Ella and Chris chose Old Rail Farm for a simple reason. They wanted to photograph the gardens while they were still green. Their spring wedding will then bring a different look and feel when they return.
