When gents come to us for a chest wax, we advise that they make sure their chest area is exfoliated and moisturised 24 hours before the treatment and completely clean and product free on the day of their treatment. 24 hours before, a patch test will be conducted so we can check you’re not allergic to the wax. We use Waxperts Wax only, a professional salon brand which leaves even the most sensitive skin smooth and soft. You will have a choice of hot or warm wax to remove the hair in quick strokes, but we recommend hot as it removes even the smallest hairs and shows better results on directional hair growth.
The therapist will use Waxperts Cleanse, Pre-Wax Oil and After Wax Oil to prep and soothe the area – overall the treatment takes about 30 minutes. Our salon follows a strict hygiene code of conduct, as the first 24 hours after a wax is when the skin is most prone to infection. We never ‘double dip’ our spatulas, conduct all our chest waxing treatments in a waxing-only room and ensure that all clients have the necessary aftercare information.
We advise our gentleman clients not to use sunbeds, steam rooms, saunas or to break a sweat in the gym for 24 hours after their chest wax, as this can increase the risk of ingrown hairs. Some redness immediately after the treatment is perfectly normal though. As tempting as it is, please don’t shave in between chest waxes. Waxing works so well because it makes the hairs finer and weaker over time – shaving will counteract this and make them more coarse and noticeable.
Your chest will remain beautifully smooth and hairless for 2-3 weeks after the wax. Regular chest waxes and consistent exfoliation 3 days after the treatment will ensure regrowth is fine and manageable.
