The skin on our underarms is some of the most delicate on our body, so hair removal in this area needs to be done very carefully.  At Maddalena’s in Cleckheaton, we’ve been providing silky smooth underarm waxing for the ladies and gents of West Yorkshire for a decade.  Salon owner Stacey Nelson is one of the most experienced waxing beauticians at Maddalena’s and in the Cleckheaton area.  Her staff are also handpicked for their expertise.

24 hours before your treatment, a patch test will be conducted so we can check you’re not allergic to the wax.  We use salon brand Waxperts Wax which is great for sensitive skin.  Plus our salon has a stringent hygiene policy, which ensures your wax is safe and sterile.  We have a waxing-only treatment room and we never ‘double dip’ our spatulas – that’s not our style.

To prep your skin for an underarm wax, exfoliate the area in a circular motion 24 hours before your appointment and make sure you skip deodorant and lotion in the morning too.  We treat the skin before and after the treatment with Waxperts’ Cleanse, Pre-Wax and After Wax oils, to minimize the risk of ingrown hairs and to keep the surface of the skin nice and soft.  There’s a choice of hot and warm wax, but hot wax is recommended as it shows better results on directional hair growth and fine hairs, plus there’s no pulling with strips.

After your wax you won’t see a stray hair for around 2-3 weeks.  When they do grow back they will be weaker and finer than before.  The treatment takes around 10 minutes and some redness is perfectly normal and will go down quickly.  You should avoid sunbeds, exfoliation, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours and fake tan may look patchy after a wax, so it’s best to leave application for a couple of days after the treatment.
